Contests

Are you creative? Think you can write great radio commercials? Coming soon The El Paso Association of Radio Stations will offer a radio copywriting and production contest, in which contestants will write radio commercials for a public service organization, group or agency.

A number of student categories will be available at different age/grade levels. The winning entries will be produced and broadcast on several area radio stations.

In addition, these students will receive plaques, prizes, scholarships, and recognition for their efforts.

Name the sound effects!

Everybody who answers correctly goes into a drawing for a $50.00 movie certificate. Twenty (20) winners will be drawn via random drawing from the winners' pool on March 1, 2008.

(Hint: 12 sound effects total!)

Scholarships:

Five EARS Radio Scholarships will be awarded, good for $500.00 each, to students attending UTEP, NMSU, El Paso Community College, or Dona Ana Community College, who respond to the following essay question:

In the next four years, define the future of Radio. Consider the following items in your response: local radio, the internet, satellite, HD radio, cell phones, iPods, etc.

Keep essays under 600 words. Deadline to enter: March 1, 2008.

Scholarship winners will be announced on April 1, 2008.
